This was my second time running the Berlin Marathon—I previously ran it in 2022 and had a fantastic experience. Naturally, I was excited to return. As race day approached, I was obsessively checking the 10-day weather forecast. Initially, it looked like rain, but as the day drew nearer, the forecast shifted to a high of 80°F. My heart sank. I’ve never been strong in the heat, and the older I get, the more it affects me.

I typically only write race recaps for marathons, but since I originally signed up for the full and this trip turned into a pretty amazing runcation with our Fleet Feet family, I decided to recap this one too.

This was my sixth time running the Big Sur Marathon, and I knew I was in for a treat.

This year marked my 12th consecutive Boston Marathon—and it was an emotional one. I knew going into the race that it wouldn’t be my strongest performance.
