This was my third Boston Marathon, and I was beyond excited to share this incredible experience with my best friend, Reggie.
She was fortunate enough to get a bib from a friend, but she almost didn’t take it. Since she had qualified at the Hartford Marathon and would be running Boston the following year, she wasn’t sure if she should run this time. I told her, “You never know what can happen next year—take the bib!” And she did.

I found a hotel close to the finish line and called ahead to confirm that it would be big enough for the three of us, especially since Reggie would be staying with us. The hotel assured me they could provide a rollaway cot, which would have plenty of room. When we checked in, I immediately noticed the hotel was a bit outdated, with an old, slow elevator. When we opened the door to our room, it was incredibly small. The rollaway cot wasn’t even set up yet! Kim quickly moved some of the furniture and set up the cot, and suddenly the room resembled more of a cozy one-bed space.
The next day, we went to the expo, where we had the chance to experience some of the cool perks of the Adidas 360 program we were part of. It was a great experience and got us even more excited for race day.
On race day, we took a comfortable coach bus to Athletes’ Village. The weather was nicer than expected, so we decided to venture out of the bus and enjoy the atmosphere. The race itself went smoothly—I felt strong throughout and ran a great race. After crossing the finish line, I headed to the hospitality room to refuel and enjoy some food.
The day was filled with excitement, and I couldn’t wait for the next week when we would head to California to run the Big Sur Marathon again.
